Our story starts where many other chapters had ended. During the Spring of 2020, social life in Seattle ceased to exist as it did in many places across the world due to COVID-19. Shortly after the lockdowns started, the days of freely moving throughout movie theatres, restaurants, malls, sporting events, and basic trips to the grocery store, all felt like a thing of a far distant path. Naturally we turned to things like zoom calls, video games, and facetime, to replicate that human interaction we held so dearly. While these types of virtual interaction became the norm, as young 20-somethings living in a city, we couldn’t help but want to be a part of the physical world around us and shortly into the pandemic, we broke the rules, and starting socially interacting in person. What started off as a 6-pack and a soccer ball became a weekly hangout between the friend group (mostly comprised of mid-west transplants because let’s face it, people from Seattle did not want to be friends with us during the pandemic). Now, Becca and Daniel did not know each other at the time of this norm starting, but they did hold a common link, what was that common link you ask? Well, Becca LOVED rainforest café growing up, and Daniel weirdly never threw out his 48 cent salvation army purchase in 2010 of a shirt that resembled the rainforest café (red-eyed tree frogs were the center of attention on this article of clothing). On that particular Friday hangout, the link was made whole, and Becca was enthralled by Daniel’s shirt and wondered “who is this rainforest café guy?”…. (The editors of this “our story” tab have confirmed that Becca and Daniel had met two times prior, but let’s be honest, was there really anything memorable about that guy?). Through the help of some mutual friends (thank you Clare and Erik), Becca and Daniel were able to get to know each other through many of these “6-pack and soccer ball” type hangouts for the next few weeks.** **The PG version of the story actually reads like this: Erik, one of Daniel’s good friends and the one who was dating her best friend, Clare, had sent a text to Daniel after the rainforest café interaction that read “Becca thinks you’re hot”…. To which Daniel replied “I think she’s weird……. And it’s hot” The rest of the story could go on for many paragraphs with the adventures had over those first few years, however, there is a different time and place for that! Fast forward 4 years later from the fateful Friday frog shirt occurrence and we’re on the eve of finally saying “I do” to each other, a moment that we have been anticipating since early on in our relationship. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by many great individuals that formed who we are as people. We would not be standing here together today if we did not have the parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that helped mold us into the people that we are today. We look forward to celebrating the big day with you all! Cheers, Rebecca and Daniel
