Our Love Story

First comes nerves, then comes love, here comes marriage.

Brooks and I met in March 2018. We were introduced by a coworker, and at that time, we never imagined we would end up where we are now. It started with Snapchat messages exchanged all day, which quickly evolved into long phone calls that neither of us wanted to end. Before we knew it, we met in person, and from that moment on, we made it a point to be together whenever we could. At that time, Brooks lived about an hour away, but he traveled for work every week. Like most couples, we had our ups and downs, but we always stood by each other’s side. In June 2018, we discovered I was pregnant with our son, Nicholas. Initially, we were expecting a little girl, and we had chosen the name Sophia Cecilia Polczinski. To our surprise, a handsome, healthy baby boy was born on March 1, 2019. We didn’t take our love story slow; it grew larger than life. In May 2019, Brooks came up with a business plan to start his own company. I would be lying if I said I was 100% on board; I knew it would be a huge change, and I was scared. But he went for it. He worked tirelessly, handing out business cards to every business he saw in an effort to secure contracts for lawn care and snow plowing. It was an amazing time in our lives. We had this small, beat-up snow plow truck that broke down constantly, and we could only drive on back roads because it would overheat if we went too fast. To apply salt, I would drive the truck with the baby in his car seat while Brooks sat in the bed of the truck, throwing out bags of salt by hand. We looked a bit crazy, but we made it work. To this day, our business is thriving and has grown tremendously, thanks to Brooks’ hard work and dedication. I believe this part of our story is important because it truly strengthened our relationship. We grew up together, we learned together, and we are continuing to do so today. The engagement came slowly. I waited many years, to the point where I didn't think it would ever happen. He would joke as we lay in bed, asking, "Will you marry me?" I would laugh and respond, "Do you have the ring?" Then we would go about our lives. One sunny day, the Friday before Labor Day weekend, Brooks stopped home for lunch, which was a bit unusual. He started with his usual teasing, saying, "So you’re just not going to marry me?" I was getting a bit annoyed, as I was in the middle of doing the dishes. Then he said something that made me turn around. To my surprise, he was down on one knee in our kitchen with the most beautiful ring! I said, "YES," and so our great love story continues to the rest of our lives.
