Our story

First comes school, then comes marriage.

Well, we met when we were in the hospital being born... Just kidding (kinda)! We really met when we were in preschool at White Rabbitt Daycare. We parted ways when we went to separate elementary schools, but reunited and became good friends during high school. We ultimately started dating our senior year of high school and the rest is history! After high school, we both chose to attend North Carolina State University. During our time in Raleigh, we did absolutely everything together. From Chi Omega date parties to cheering on our beloved Wolfpack to serving as University Ambassadors together, we were inseparable. During our senior year at NCSU, Rebecca was accepted to the UNC School of Medicine. Shortly after, Allen received his acceptance letter to the Master of Professional Science Program in Toxicology at UNC, and we both moved down the road to Chapel Hill. Even though we spent most of our free time studying, we managed to adopt our infamous rescue pup named Gunner Bear! Although things were going well in Chapel Hill, Rebecca matched into a program in Wilmington at New Hanover Regional Medical Center for her clinical rotations. In December 2016, Allen graduated with his Master's Degree and we packed up and moved to Wilmington together. Little did we know, moving to Wilmington would be one of the best things to ever happen to us, so we decided to stay for 4 more years for Rebecca's OB/GYN residency! We have fallen in love with the city and want to show our friends and family this beautiful place too!

The Proposal

9.30.2017

My best friend and Maid of Honor, Jordan, decided to come to Wilmington one weekend in September to visit us. She was working on her photography skills and asked if she could practice on us (or so I thought). Without me knowing, Allen and Jordan had been texting back and forth coming up with a proposal plan for a few weeks! While I was getting ready that Saturday morning, Allen gave Jordan the ring to put in her bag so I wouldn't notice anything. After everyone was ready, we drove to Fort Fisher to give Jordan some photography practice. We started out on this beautiful bridge and I had a small thought that this could possibly be the day that he pops the question. After a few minutes of taking photos, Allen and Jordan decided she should take a few photos of just me & Gunner. Meanwhile, Allen was getting the ring out of Jordan's bag! Jordan then began talking about this one pose that she really wanted to try with us. She wanted me to face her & the camera and have Allen behind me holding my hand. She then started talking about this next pose and when I turned around, there was Allen down on one knee with the most beautiful ring in his hand. It obviously didn't take any thinking for me to say "yes!" Since that time, we have had so much fun planning the wedding of our dreams!
