Our story began at a social between Becca's sorority and Tony's fraternity. She had never been to his fraternity house before, but when she walked in, she immediately caught his eye. Tony waited for the right moment and finally approached her when she was with a group of people he knew. They started talking and quickly hit it off. Just as things were going well, Becca's friend pulled her away to another nearby party. Tony figured that might be the end of their conversation. But Becca wasn't ready to leave it there. After a while, she came back to find Tony again, and they spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know each other. Before the evening ended, Tony took a chance and asked if she'd like to be his date for their Valentine's Day social the following week. To his relief, she said yes. From that moment on, they've been together ever since.
Tony had gone ring shopping with Becca months earlier to get an idea of what she liked. After some searching, he thought he could find something even better. But as fate would have it, the universe had other plans. One day, while they were browsing online together, ads for the rings Tony had been looking at suddenly popped up on the screen. Caught off guard, Tony froze as Becca asked, "Were you looking at rings?" Thinking quickly, he noticed the ring ad was conveniently placed next to an ad for diabetes medication, so he replied, "No, I don't have diabetes either; they're just showing random stuff." To gauge her reaction, he casually asked, "Do you like them, though?" Becca's immediate response was, "No, I hate them all." With that honest feedback, Tony knew exactly what he needed to do. He went back and bought the type of ring Becca had wanted from the beginning.
Becca had been feeling the weight of her recent graduation and move, so when she asked Tony if they could do something fun, he knew just the place. He suggested they visit a waterfall in Wisconsin, a spot near where he grew up. Tony had the ring for weeks, waiting for the perfect moment to propose, but life had been so hectic that they hadn’t had a chance to do anything or go anywhere. Determined to make the day special, Tony packed a picnic lunch and discreetly slipped the ring box into Becca’s backpack. He also added a tripod, under the guise of wanting to take some pictures. They set off on their hike, the anticipation building with each step. The day was perfect. The sun was shining, and the sound of the waterfall grew louder as they approached. They found a secluded spot to have lunch, enjoying the peaceful surroundings as the afternoon turned to evening and other visitors began to leave. Tony noticed a small opening under the waterfall and suggested they take a photo there. He told Becca to go ahead while he fetched the tripod. As he grabbed the tripod, he also slipped the ring into his pocket, his heart pounding. Setting up the tripod, Tony joined Becca under the waterfall. The sound of the rushing water hid his shaky breath. He pulled the ring from his pocket and, with a smile, asked, “Will you do this with me forever?” Becca’s eyes widened in surprise and delight. “Are you serious… under a waterfall?” she exclaimed, her voice filled with emotion. Becca’s answer was clear. They embraced, the waterfall cascading around them, marking the beginning of their forever.
