Back in 2014, we both attended a Christmas party hosted by mutual friends, Josh and Ashley. Rebecca had known them since childhood, while Dalton and Josh became good friends and roommates in college. The two of us met for the first time and enjoyed each other's company, which did not go unnoticed. After the party, our friends helped to bring us together. Over the last 6 or so years, the two of us have weathered through long distances as we each completed our graduate studies and began our careers. We are truly excited to begin this next journey in our lives together and can not wait to share in this momentous celebration of our love with friends and family.
On our first date we went ate out at a bar-b-que restaurant in Dalton's hometown and after we went to hang out in a graveyard, of all places, of Old Saint Pauls Church in Conover. Although a graveyard may not sound like an ideal first date scene, Dalton planned the evening as an homage to his mother's parents, whose first date just also happened to be--you guessed it--at a graveyard. Once you get over the fact that we were in a graveyard on the night of our first date, you can understand that we had a wonderful time just hanging out with each other, walking and talking under the stars, and just taking in the sights and the living (or not so living) history around us. Nearly 6 years later, we returned to that same graveyard on Halloween, of all days. It was there in that graveyard that we got engaged and decided to spend the rest of our lives together. Afterward, we returned to the home of Dalton's parents where both of our families were waiting to celebrate this momentous occasion with us.
