Emmanuel Lutheran has brought so much to us as a couple. One of the many reasons we chose to have our wedding at Emmanuel is, this is where we met! In the summer of 2016, we met at Appalachian Servant Event (ASE). We barely spoke a few sentences to each other that year. One sentence in particular stands out to us 6 years later. Leaving ASE is one of the hardest things you have to do because you become so close with these strangers. We had barely spoken but we went to say goodbye to each other anyways. We cried & hugged & Nicholas pulled away, looked at Brooke and said, "I could never imagine my life without you." This sentence would haunt Nicholas for years as it made no sense to him. 2 years passed and we never spoke until 2018 when we were back at ASE. Each of our lives completely different then they were before. Brooke, being herself went up to Nicholas at the beginning of the week to bother him about hanging out with her. When that day finally came around, something clicked. We were inseparable; Best Friends immediately! When the time came to leave, that goodbye was so much harder. Brooke made him promise he would came back to Asheville in 2 months to see her for her birthday and he promised. The day Brooke moved into her first apartment, she received flowers from Nicholas. From then on, Brooke knew this was more than just friendship. We began talking & September finally rolled around when we saw each other again and began our journey. On October 15th, 2018, we began officially dating. We were 6 hours apart for about over a year. Then, in March 2020, Nicholas made the move to Asheville. December 5th, 2020 was a day that we will cherish forever. After dinner, Brooke walked into Nicholas's apartment that was lined with rose petals, the room filled with candles. Modeled after Brooke's favorite show, Friends, Nicholas proposed. After over a year of being engaged and over 3 years of dating, we are so thrilled to be beginning a new chapter as husband and wife.
