Ours is a sweet but funny one that's for sure. Trey developed a crush on me my sophomore year, which was his junior year at Ouachita Baptist University. Our mutual friend, Lauren Venditto (who is a bridesmaid;)), posted a photo of me and her on Instagram, and Trey screenshotted the photo, asking "who is your friend?" From there, Lauren never failed to let me know that he was interested in me. However, I was hesitant at the time because I didn't feel ready for a relationship. I also was feeling like Trey and I could actually be something based on some things Lauren had told me, and I was wanting a season of college to myself. So I slowly stopped talking to him, which I know now was a dumb mistake on my part, but hey, all in God's perfect timing right? Our story picks back up around November of 2022, when I learned that Trey had a hot tub (yes, a hot tub!!) in his apartment. He invited our same mutual friend, Lauren, to come over, and he told her to invite some friends, one of which was me. Of course I said yes- I was desperately wanting to see this hot tub people were talking about. This was the first time that I had seen Trey in a social setting- we had previously only seen each other in passing and talked some over SnapChat. I walked in to Trey and Grant Allen's apartment- Lancelot 15- to see the hot tub and all of its glory right smack in the middle of the living room. I also see Trey, being the amazing guy that he is. He was serving everyone around him, being an incredible host by making sure people had drinks and food and whatever else they needed. He was being so funny and taking amazing care of his hot tub might I add! I remember I was sitting on the couch, and he came to sit beside me, and he talked me up. He told me all about his podcast idea and we joked back and forth for awhile. It was after that night that my feelings for him started to develop. From there, we started texting and FaceTiming, and then finally on New Years Eve he asked me on our first date. We went to Brick and Forge in downtown Conway, Arkansas on New Years Day. From there we moved quickly, we started talking about the future, and what it would look like with Trey continuing his football career. I told him I would encourage him every step of the way, and I understood the importance and weight it held in his life. I wanted to be an enhancer to his life, not an inhibitor. I wanted him to continue to pursue all of his dreams, and I wanted to be there cheering him on. We realized quickly how well we compliment each other. Trey is a "gentle giant" as I like to put it. He is soft-spoken, most of the time, as well as level-headed, spontaneous, calm, and goofy. This compliments my Type A, sort of extrovert, planning, sometimes overly rigid personality perfectly. We always joke that he teaches me to calm down and appreciate the moment, whereas I help motivate him and get him out of his shell. We had a whole semester at Ouachita together, where he transferred into two of my classes so that we could have class together. After his graduation, we were officially long distance and have been ever since (for over a year!). We made it a priority to visit each other as often as we can, and we have made some amazing memories traveling together. We got engaged on December 30th, in Grapevine, Texas. It was the greatest day of my life! Since then, we've been wedding planning away and well... The rest is still to be written. I can honestly say that Trey is the biggest blessing I have ever received. He is loving, kind, attentive, intentional, hilarious, fun, and so wise. He is the happiest person I know. He radiates the Lord's joy and its infectious to anyone he is around. He constantly plans dates and fun activities for us, looking for new memories we can create together. He cares deeply for the Lord and protecting his witness. He is an amazing leader, always leading by example to those around him. I cannot wait for him to be my husband!
