Our story begins in 2018, like many do in the digital age—on a dating site. But this one is special. One day, while both bored at work and swiping through potential matches, we stumbled upon each other, sitting just three floors apart at the former CNN headquarters. Fred decided to send a message that made Sammy think, "Yep, I need to meet this kid." That line? "Roses are red, violets are blue, sunflowers are yellow… these are just gardening facts." From there, we casually chatted about our jobs at CNN until we realized we were both at work at that very moment. That day, Fred ventured down to the studio where Sammy was working, and they instantly hit it off. Bonding over their love for craft beer, cherished family and friends, and a shared desire to explore the world, their connection deepened. Almost a year later we officially kicked things off in June, of 2019. We navigated a global pandemic, job changes, bought a home together, and even raised a small bear named Rudy. Through it all, we couldn’t imagine doing this crazy life without each other. On March 29, 2024, Fred planned to surprise Sammy with the perfect engagement. He took her to the spot of their first date and followed it up with an engagement party filled with family and friends from Georgia, Illinois, and even Colorado. However, in true Sammy fashion, she had a hunch about everything. Even though she slightly spoiled the surprise, she was over the moon.
