We met sophomore year in the MOB at Rice University. Sam had been in the MOB for a year already but I joined sophomore year. Even though we were in different sections, Sam still made it a point to talk to me. After some convincing from a mutual friend and an away game to San Antonio, we started talking more and more. However, that was right before Sam was set to start his time with Americorps, which involved him traveling across the country for ten months. He came back during the Spring semester and our relationship became official on February 1st 2018. Since then, we have traveled together, raised a plant family together, and lived a great life together. This is the start of the rest of our adventure.
The plan to propose was in the works for over a month. One of her friends had taken our photos before, so first I reached out to see if she'd be available. Once that was secured, the rest of the plan could fall into place. I planned a whole scavenger hunt in our apartment during what little free time I had during my 14 hour work days. I picked out several places and things that hold memories for us in the apartment. I settled on only 12 with a 13th that I would hand her myself. That day she had friends over and they would not leave. I hid in the bathroom for 40 minutes waiting for them to go since it was supposed to be quick. She showed them around the apartment and they looked past the hidden clues without knowing they were there. When they left I had her get dressed so we could go out to eat at a fancy restaurant before our trip. She walks out and i hand her the first card to start the scavenger hunt. She had to get hints with the clues and I would have to give warmer and colder, but she eventually got them all. It was so much fun to make them and so much fun to watch her try to figure them out. When we got to the 12th one, she turned around and I handed her the 13th card. In it, I had what I would say, that way she could keep the words forever and look back at them. When she finished reading, I got down on one knee and popped the question. "of course" she'll marry me
