Thanks to a good college education and fun Greek life, Desirae and Cody met in 2011 at San José State University. Desirae was an Alpha Phi and Cody was a Sigma Chi, both living down the street from one another. They became good friends and would see each other at parties, events, football games, you name it. Fast forward to Spring Break 2015. Des and Cody just so happened to be vacationing in Newport Beach together with their friends - almost as if the universe had foreshadowed their future together.

A few years after graduating, Des decided to move her life to Southern California. Cody is originally from SoCal and moved back a year after he graduated. The two reunited in the spring of 2018 when Des' little sis and roommate, Tiffany, invited Cody over to hangout and watch their favorite hockey team (GO SHARKS!). Tiff and Cody had been close since college, and while the now trio became inseparable, Tiffany decided to play cupid and pair Des & Cody together.

Portola Valley, CA With the blessing of her mom and 2 uncles who helped raise her, Cody popped the question on Thanksgiving evening. Cody knew his Aunt & Uncle's house would be the perfect setting since him & Des have spent a lot of time there, and not to mention they enjoy the beautiful view of the Bay Area. The evening started with charcuterie & cocktails in the backyard followed by family photos. Des thought Cody was joking when he got down on one knee and was completely shocked when he pulled out the ring of her dreams. She could barely get out a "YEAH" because she was overwhelmed with joy & happy tears. She has always felt like a part of the Birkett family, and Cody a part of her family, but now it's official and they can start a family of their own.
