How We Met and Our Proposal

ser·en·dip·i·ty /ˌserənˈdipədē/ noun noun: serendipity; plural noun: serendipities the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

Anthony and Diana were classmates at Chartiers Valley and graduated together in 2008. They were accquaintances and not in the same friend group, so after graduation, they had not seen one another for about 9 years. That changed one day in June of 2017 when Anthony was walking to the Market District in Shadyside and Diana was nannying for a family on the same street that Anthony lived on (unbeknownst to her). Diana was outside with the two small children she nannied and saw Anthony walk by and recognized him. She called out his name when he was on the way back down the street. He said he didn’t recognize her because of her blonde hair and big sunglasses and actually, once he realized who it was, asked if she lived there and if those were her children! After catching up briefly, Anthony learned she was semi-new to working in the area and told Diana if she ever wanted to check out any of the bars or restaurants in the area to let him know. A few weeks later, Diana finally reached out to Anthony on Facebook since they were “friends” there and they set up a date. Our first date was to Girasole, a small Italian restaurant in Shadyside where Anthony would later propose on November 16, 2019. We then headed to Steel Cactus’ rooftop bar where on the night of our proposal, our family and friends waited to celebrate with us!
