We have chosen to go the non-traditional route by not having a normal gift registry. To be brutally honest, with the wedding coming up so soon, we've had less time to save up for it. We are also wanting to buy a house, but want to do more research into areas that are a good fit for our move and save up for a downpayment. Instead of choosing a variety of household items we don't really need right now, we are just kindly asking for cash/check donations in any amount you feel comfortable with. We were originally planning on having a smaller wedding since we chose to have a short engagement, but goodness, God is so good. In early July we found the *perfect* venue for us available on the weekend we were looking that can host the bigger wedding we wanted. It means the world for us to be able to share our big day with each and every one of you. Physical gifts are still welcome, but donations are more than enough! Thank you in advance for anything you feel you can give.
The ceremony will be taking place on the lawn between the lodge and the reception barn; keep this in mind when you're considering shoes (looking at you ladies). Our colors are going to be very earthy with accents of champagne and burnt orange/rust (if you're the color coordinating type). Most of all, we want you guys to be comfortable! So dress as fancy as you'd like, but semi-formal or dressy casual is just fine.
We plan to have the ceremony outside rain or shine, but the reception will be under a big white tent connected to a wooden barn on the property. Our fingers are crossed for no rain, but if God has other plans, we're still saying "I do", so bring umbrellas + dress accordingly :)
If you put the address into your GPS, you will turn into a driveway with open gates that say "Iris Hills" (can't miss it). Follow the driveway past the lodge on the right until you get close to the barn (stay left). There will be parking attendants to guide you and valets to park your vehicle.
Iris Hills is owned by Brian and Gerri Schultz. The lodge on the property is their home during the winter months when it is not being used as an Airbnb/Wedding Venue. So we want to be respectful of their gorgeous space. All alcohol consumed must be poured by their provided bartenders and smoking must only take place in the designated areas. Cocktail hour will take place in the backyard of the lodge where their pool is, so no glass of any kind is allowed in this area.
Yes! The distance between the cocktail space and the reception barn are not far. They are connected by a paved driveway, so getting from one spot to the other shouldn't be too difficult. The only spot that might be difficult is the lawn between the two where the ceremony is happening. There is no walkway; the chairs will just be placed in the grass. The lawn is pretty even, though.
We aren't surprised. Food is a big deal to us too. We are doing things buffet style through a local BBQ joint called The Cluck Bucket. Pulled pork, pulled chicken, potatoes, Mac & cheese.... those are just some of the delicious options. So come hungry + ready to eat (and dance). It's going to be a good time.
