To our lovely friends and family, I hope this message finds you well, and that you and your loved ones are safe during this difficult time. Due to the current situation surrounding the coronavirus, we have been concerned about proceeding with our wedding and putting our loved ones at risk so we’ve decided to postpone our big day. Not to worry though, once this has all calmed down and life has returned to normal, we’ll be putting on the best wedding yet! We can’t wait to hug you all. This year we have decided to hold an intimate ceremony with immediate family; we plan to celebrate our one year anniversary with our original dream wedding next year, exactly one year apart. Please save our NEW DATE, April 30th, 2022. We hope this date works for you and that you can join us to celebrate safely then.  We hope you and your families are well, and we’re sending lots of love your way. it all started with a mouse... Jared and Mikayla met while they were both performing in Disneyland's “A Christmas Fantasy Parade” in 2014. Jared was "a skater boy" and Mikayla was a sweaty little gingerbread! Jared said he instantly fell in love with how Mikayla's face was all smushed in the helmet of her costume. They went on their first date on a rainy day to Disneyland with friends. Jared and Mikayla have since started a tradition of creating important and memorable moments together in the rain.

Jared and Mikayla got bit by the travel bug early on in their relationship. They absolutely love spending time and creating memories together by traveling to places all over the world; San Fransico, Las Vegas, Orlando, Hawaii, Shanghai, Tokyo, Phuket, Hong Kong, and most recently New York. Seeing how Disney has been a huge part of their lives and relationship; they decided upon a bucket list item as a couple, to take a photo together in front of every Disney Parks castle, only 1 to go! There is no plan to stop traveling to "far off places", continuing forward to wherever adventure awaits them. The next destination is Europe, with Disneyland Paris on the itinerary of course, for a Honeymoon!

In what seemed like a somewhat "last minute" trip, traveling to New York would become a milestone in their relationship. If you ask Jared, setting everything up was nothing short of a perfect puzzle coming together. In the weeks/days leading up to the trip Mikayla was swamped with rehearsals for another year of A Christmas Fantasy, this gave just enough room for Jared to prepare for the proposal to come. Searching for the perfect ring for Mikayla was quite the adventure because Jared had no idea there were so many different options when it came to engagement rings. He secretly traveled back and forth during his workdays seeing the ring as the pieces came in and deciding what would be THE RING for the proposal. The next step was finding a photographer; knowing this was an absolute must, Jared took to the internet and after contacting several options found one who would be available during their trip to get “the shot”. Another necessary item on the to-do list was to make sure Mikayla had her nails done, for this Jared needed help because there was no way Mikayla would go on her own during the hectic rehearsal schedule. Mikayla at this point getting suspicious and around the day she was to get her nails done (Thanks Jose!), she even went as far as to ask Jared if he was going to propose! Thankfully Mikayla asked in a message and not in person because that would have been the moment that Jared couldn’t keep it to himself! So only one thing remained, asking for the blessing.. Jared will tell you asking Mikayla’s parents was nearly as nerve wracking as asking Mikayla to marry him! The only true opportunity Jared had to ask for their blessing that wouldn’t make Mikayla suspicious was the night before they left for New York. Thankfully Mikayla was busy working overnight rehearsals and would have no idea of the conversation before the trip.

Arriving at the airport Jared, with the ring in his carry-on, and Mikayla, unknowing of what was to come, were ready to start their adventure in New York. Landing Thursday evening, they checked into their hotel and found some food before bed. Friday was wonderful, seeing the sights and preparing to see Beetlejuice on Broadway. Jared was excited to see the show, however his brain had other plans for him for the following day was when he was going to pop the question. By Act 2 Jared could not focus, mind racing over what tomorrow’s secret plan was and keeping it together on the outside to not raise suspicion from Mikayla. Jared could not sleep (of course!) but eventually the two were sound asleep. Up early on Saturday, Jared and Mikayla were off to see more of New York. As they were getting into the elevator Jared made Mikayla take a selfie, just as she did every day in Hawaii (that was his excuse at least), this however was for the photographer to know what they were wearing…Sneaky Sneaky! It was a rainy day but Jared knew that the cards would fall into place. After waffles for breakfast it was 9:40 am and the photographer was waiting for them at 10:00 at DUMBO, Jared had to get them there in a hurry without raising any alarms so he called an uber quick. Pulling up to THE location at 10:00 exactly, Jared and Mikayla got out of the car; immediately Mikayla wanted to turn around at look at the iconic view and take a photo but Jared insisted they move farther down the street. With eyes on the photographer Jared knew this was the moment, he was literally shaking with nerves, so much that Mikayla asked if he was okay. Moving to the center of the street, Jared grabbed Mikayla’s hand, got down on one knee and ask the most important question of his life. “Mikayla Lynee Gerlach, will you marry me?” If you didn’t know, Mikayla said YES! The rest of the trip was all celebration, calling friends and family to share the news and soaking in every moment of the new engagement.
