The Market at Pepper Place is one of our favorite Saturday spots during the spring, summer and fall. Luckily for us (and you!), the market moves indoors during the winter. Check it out from 7 am - 12 pm on Saturday morning. Shop Alabama-made and Alabama-grown goods, and grab some breakfast and coffee at Red Cat!
If you want to check out another of Birmingham's breweries before you head to Avondale to celebrate with us, Cahaba is nearby and offers lots of indoor space to hang out. Want even more beer? Here are a few other breweries you can hit up: Good People, Back Forty, TrimTab, and Ghost Train.
Railroad Park is one of our favorite outdoor spaces in Birmingham. If you've never visited the city, it's a great way to see some green space and also take in the city views. If it's warm enough, stop by for a stroll.
Wanna to experience some of Birmingham's hiking trails? While Oak Mountain is fantastic, Ruffner Mountain is closer to the wedding events, and it's free! We're partial to the Overlook Trail for great views of the quarry and the city. In fact, we spent our third date here. It went really well. ;)
If you're going to spend any time downtown, this is the best place to go for a delicious, hand-crafted cocktail. Mixologists tailor each drink to your tastes, so you'll love everything you try! We went here after dinner on our first date, and it's still one of our favorite spots. Bonus: There are board games on the tables.
If you want to see the best view of the city while also learning some Birmingham history, head to Vulcan! It's only $6 to take the elevator (or the stairs, if you're crazy) to the top of the statue.
If you're looking for some casual breakfast and lunch spots near Avondale/Lakeview/Highlands, here are a few to check out: MELT, Avondale Common House (good brunch!), Saw's Soul Kitchen (BBQ), Slice, FIVE Birmingham, Moe's (BBQ), Babalu and Rojo. There's no shortage of food in Birmingham!
