Highland Village shopping center is walking distance from our old apartment, our home of 4 years. Brunch at Sweet Paris, makeup errands at Sephora, tech needs at the Apple Store, Jcrew and Madewell for any emergency outfit changes, cards and stationary from Paper Source - we highly recommend it for a quick shopping stop without the hassle of the mall!
McGovern Centennial Gardens is a beautiful garden located next to the Houston Zoo and has the best views of Houston's Museum District. (This almost became our wedding venue!) If you have time to spare, this park is very close to our venues. It's a few blocks away from Andrea's workplace, Texas Children's Hospital. This was also where we spent so many of our mornings with Casey and Griz during lockdown.
POST HTX has the perfect spot for a photo in front of the Houston skyline and a huge food hall in case you are looking for some good eats! Soy Pinoy, East Side King, Yoyo's Hot Dogs, and Flower and Cream are our favorites!! There are plenty of food halls to visit in Houston but this one is our top choice.
Saint Arnold's Brewery is one of our favorite hang out spots in Houston. They're known as "your backyard in the city." Try to make it to one of their brewery tours if you can spare the time!
A California favorite now also located in Texas! Seafood City is a bit of a drive from the inner loop but it’s a straight shot route. If you’ve ever been to the other locations before, you know it’s worth the trip!
Truth BBQ is our go-to spot for Texas BBQ! The pitmaster was a winner on Food Network’s Chopped and is often serving the bbq on the line.
