Yes/No On arrival to STT, you do NOT go through US Customs. Simply grab your luggage and call a cab/rental car and enjoy the start of your stay! On DEPARTURE, you MUST arrive 3 hours prior to scheduled departure. Why? After checking in/getting checked luggage tags, you'll immediately be taken through US Customs. If you have Global Entry the line is shorter. At Customs you'll declare your "home country" and be asked if you're taking fruits/other domestic items (most likely answer is no). From there you will bring checked luggage to a drop off line before going through TSA. They DO have TSA precheck for those who have applied. *The airport has a small cafe with general cafe items (chicken fingers, burgers, etc) and a spot to grab snacks/drinks/magazines etc.
The deplaning process is unique in that you will leave the plane via stairs and then walk to baggage claim. Therefore, if a person has problems with stairs/carrying carry-on luggage please alert airline prior to leaving for STT and prior to departing STT.
From the Ritz Carlton: the front desk can call you a cab, typically Kellys Cab Service. From outside the resort: there are many cabs including Kellys Cab Service, VI Taxi, etc. I would ask Airbnb host or hotel front desk for their most recommended! *Taxis are priced per person, not total trip. Ex: From Ritz Carlton to Red Hook (area for restaurants/bars, approx 1.5-2 mile distance) it is $5pp. If 2 people are going it would be $10. Ex: from Ritz Carlton to Charlotte Amalie area (shopping, cruise ship port, approx 8 miles distance ) it is $15pp They are CASH ONLY, plus a couple extra dollars for tip.
Absolutely not! We did our whole planning visit with only using the cab service. It was easy and efficient. Most excursions and experiences can be done at the resort, with fun nearby excursions under 8 miles from the wedding venue site. All wedding events will happen on site. However; if you do rent a car, remember they drive on the LEFT side of the road, so it is a little tricky at first until you get the hang of it!
No. Unless planning on extending your stay and taking a ferry or sailing trip to the BVI, you do not need a passport for travel.
No. Neither are required at this point for entry to STT or entry to US
