Silka and Rayshawn’s love story begins with a fateful trip to Burger King. Twenty+ years ago, Silka walked into Burger King with one of her oldest friends, Jovonda, and Jovonda’s Dad. It didn’t take long for Silka to notice the cute guy behind the counter taking their order. Silka and Rayshawn exchanged words, and he kindly gave her an Oreo cheesecake on the house. While Rayshawn doesn’t remember this fateful meeting, Silka has held this moment in her memories since. Later, Silka would apply for a job at Burger King, and she would run into Rayshawn again. Rayshawn remembers laying eyes on her as she sat in the back office entering her information into the computer. At the time, she was dating someone else, so the two decided to become friends. Through the decades, the two would weave in and out of each other’s lives. In 2017, the couple reconnected and started spending more and more time together. Silka became pregnant with their daughter in 2018. The couple marks the birth of their daughter Leilah as a momentous time in their relationship. Rayshawn knew for years that Silka would be his future. Years ago, he wrote her a letter professing his love for her with a promise that one day they would be married. The moment he saw Silka holding their daughter in her arms, he knew the time was right for him to make Silka his wife. His family was gathering for a reunion, and he decided it was the best time to propose. After family prayer, Rayshawn’s uncle urged the couple to dance together. Silka started to dance despite being confused about his uncle’s request. Rayshawn started to dance but dropped down to his knee for the proposal. At first, Silka thought he was being funny but when she saw the ring, she knew this was the proposal Rayshawn had promised her for decades. As she stood there in disbelief, Rayshawn asked if Silka would do him the honor of being his wife. Without hesitation, Silka responded with the three-letter word Rayshawn had waited years to hear.
