Our story started on Tinder where we both "swipped right". After matching, we spent a couple weeks talking on the phone before meeting in person. Our first date was at Off Square Brewing Company in Crown Point, Indiana.

Ever since Kayla was a young girl, she would always go look at Chistmas Lights with her mother and maternal grandparents. Kayla had invited Lane to participate in the life-long family tradition many times. In 2022, Lane "popped" the question while partaking in the Christmas Light viewing at The New Lenox Commons Christmas Light Display in New Lenox, Illinois.
