The Wedding Website of Rachel Zhang and Nathan Ott
These are our friends and family that will be walking down the aisle with us!

Rachel Zhang

Bride

Nathan Ott

Groom

Diana Zhou

Matron of Honor

Diana is Rachel’s childhood best friend and essentially her sister. They met at a swim summer camp in kindergarten and instantly became friends. Diana now lives in Pittsburgh and is working as a pediatric nurse practitioner (!!) and continues to be such a light and joy to all those who know her. Diana and Rachel learned and grew together throughout the years from VBS, church fellowship, and later on being at the same high school. It’s been over 20 years of many blessings/growing up/crying together, it was only natural that Diana would be the one to help Nathan and Rachel get together in the first place! We credit Diana for Rachel knowing Christ and for also knowing Nathan :)

Jordan Ott

Best Man

Jordan is Nathan’s older brother and the oldest Ott sibling. An electrical and software engineer by training, he is better known for his topspin forehand on the tennis court and his face-melting guitar solos. Now settled in Seattle, he is the father of his two daughters and husband to his wife Steph. Nathan looked up to Jordan so much during childhood, that he basically wanted to copy nearly everything Jordan did (much to his annoyance). This led to many instances where the two were mistaken as twins. Being brothers, they have been through thick and thin together. Some of the many key memories they share together include being in a rock band, the time Nathan nearly destroyed Jordan’s bedroom door when he wouldn’t let him in, and any time on the tennis court. Though they have both grown up alot since then and changed in many ways, Nathan still looks up to Jordan greatly due to his thoughtful patience, generosity, and genuine care for other people.

Senta Wang

Maid of Honor

Senta is Rachel’s college roommate who explored the craziness of Boston College with her. She is now finishing her NP at Hopkins and is hoping to go into adult orthopedics. Senta and Rachel’s friendship started from typical college ranting to each other about classes/drama, which turned to Senta dragging Rachel to the gym with her (only for Rachel to lay down the entire time), to them talking for 14+ hours on the phone/day during covid era. The two grew in so many ways together in their adult-ish years. Senta gets the credit for teaching Rachel how to do her own makeup and hair, and to buy actual clothes (vs wearing her free t-shirts & sweats).

Michael Choi

Best Man

Michael is Nathan’s fellow classmate from medical school (Thomas Jefferson University) and a dear friend. Michael is now in the DC area, achieving his life dream of becoming a brilliant vascular surgeon. Meeting through a chance encounter during a meeting of the Philadelphia Christian Medical and Dental Association, Michael and Nathan quickly became friends and bonded throughout the trials of medical school. One of their first joint pursuits was searching for a church to attend in the Philadelphia area. Upon visiting several churches, they stumbled upon Renewal Presbyterian Church where they would quickly become very active - Michael within the welcome committee and Nathan within the worship team. It was at Renewal where they became members of the prestigious “7th St” small group where they would meet an assortment of quirky but lifelong friends. Michael and Nathan also served together in Philadelphia’s Chinatown Clinic under the tutelage of the great Dr. Lau for 4 years before departing for residency. Having been forged in the fire together through critical years, Michael and Nathan share a deep bond of friendship as well as a passion for the field of surgery.

Hannah Lu

Bridesmaid

Hannah is Nathan’s only sister, who graduated from University of Southern California with a bachelors in human biology and masters in secondary education and teaching, She is now a freelance illustrator and mom to Zion and Jael, wife of Nathan Lu. Hannah has always been talented in art and crafting, and has a special eye for making things look the best. She was the designer behind Nathan’s proposal to Rachel! (It was really beautiful) Rachel is so excited to finally have a big sister :)

Edwin Zhang

Groomsman

Edwin is Nathan’s dear friend and sole brother of the bride. Having double-majored in neuroscience and biology from Brandeis, Edwin is now a research fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital Pathology Department. Nathan first met Edwin when he was visiting Boston for Rachel’s nurse practitioner graduation. While they were able to quickly bond over Genshin Impact, Nathan was blown away by Edwin’s over-the-top theatrics during a game of Avalon when he managed to swindle everyone into his role yet still guide the villagers to victory. Since then, Edwin has been a steady source of sarcasm and dry humor which was greatly enjoyed by Nathan during a recent spontaneous trip to China to visit family.

Nicole Kwan

Bridesmaid

Nicole is Rachel’s post-college roommate in Brookline, MA, where they figured out how function as adults for the first time. They met through sisters at the church they were attending in Boston, and ended up living together (with Grace Hsieh too! <3) Now, she is a 4th year medical student at Columbia University and is hoping to go into pediatrics! Nicole is perhaps one of the kindest and hardworking people. She is a constant encouragement to Rachel and a joy to do life with (now that Rachel is also in the NYC area!). Rachel and Nathan are excited for more time to hang out with Nicole and Andrew, and very thankful for them!

Tony Weaver

Groomsman

Tony is Nathan’s childhood friend and a fellow musician. Tony, husband to Makayla, resides in the Portland area and works in the coffee industry while also studying to become a licensed family counselor. Nathan remembers first meeting Tony in 2nd grade Sunday school at Southwest Bible Church. They remained acquaintances until the fateful day they both joined the middle school worship band - Tony on guitar and Nathan on drums. Through hundreds of hours practicing and performing together, they formed a bond and ended up playing together throughout highschool and beyond for church events and various other functions, even briefly touring in their band “T and the Weaves”. This experience not only taught them how to play in a band, but also what it meant to truly worship God together. Off the stage, Tony and Nathan often discuss music, theology, anime, culture and enjoy blowing off steam with video games and board games. Living up to his reputation as “the cool kid”, Tony continues to inspire others around him and despite the distance, remains a beloved friend to Nathan.

Gloria Park

Bridesmaid

Glo is Rachel’s friend she made during her time in the Bay Area, who happened to be her neighbor! Glo has the coolest job - in Rachel’s opinion. She is a senior motion graphic artist at Apple - so if you go on Apple.com, you can see some of the cool animations she’s done !! Rachel did not think she would make deep friendships while out at Stanford for a short 1 year period, and is therefore extra thankful that due to their many spontaneous hangouts and going to church together, they were able to become such good friends in a short period. Glo also has a senior dachshund named Johnny, who is also very special to Rachel as they howl together and risk getting noise complaints from the building. It is thanks to Glo (and Johnny), that Rachel was able to have a home in the Bay.

Shane Dasta

Groomsman

Shane is a fellow member of the prestigious “7th St” small group of Renewal Presbyterian Church and true servant of Christ. Shane lives in Philadelphia as a software engineer for (*redacted*) and is husband to his wife Mairam and father to his son. Shane quickly became friends with Nathan after a small group farmer’s market outing where they discovered their shared interest in manual transmission vehicles and apologetics. Their friendship blossomed as most guy friendships do - through many late night overcooked sessions and theological conversations. One of their most impressive feats, Shane and Nathan are the only known survivors of the infamous “7-day California Enduro Challenge” devised by Michael Choi. Shane continues to serve God daily in word and action and his example has taught Nathan to do the same.

Euna Lee

Bridesmaid

Euna is Rachel’s friend from college, and currently a 3rd year medical student at UMass Chan. Euna and Rachel attended the same church in college and led campus fellowship together in their junior/senior years. They spent countless hours in the library together parallel studying and eating ice cream. Euna is very driven, enthusiastic, and hardworking, and continues to be an encouragement to Rachel.

Boice Wong

Groomsman

Boice is Nathan’s childhood friend and a fellow graduate of the famed Pilgrim Lutheran School. While he is a software engineer at Intel, Boice has made breakthroughs as an origami enthusiast and influencer (@origamibyboice), having been a major contributor at national conventions and starring in TV shows. If that wasn’t impressive enough, Boice has many other eye-popping hobbies including breakdancing, free-running, tricking, and bouldering. Nathan has many early memories of Boice including misbehaving in the school choir, dreading going to piano lessons together, and discussing video games after church. In fact, Nathan’s friendship with Boice was a major factor in his desire to obtain a PS3, much to his mother’s dismay. Together they would spend many late nights surviving endless digital zombie hordes through unconventional means, which would become a Sunday evening tradition in their highschool years. Boice has remained a fierce, consistent, and loyal friend over the years and always somehow finds time to spontaneously drop into the group chat or catch up over a gaming session.
