We met in the 7th grade during a summer tennis class. Ray was the boy who picked on Dana-- which was easy to do, tennis isn't her sport. Fast forward to high school where we met again through mutual friends. We both had crushes on each other at various times but ultimately the timing wasn't right but the feelings were always real. Ray was also Dana's date to her senior prom, hence #FROMPROMTOPINTO. We both went off to college--Ray went to school in upstate New York (RPI) and Dana went down to South Carolina (Coastal Carolina University) where we both made life long friendships and amazing memories. The two of us stayed in touch through the latest technologies at the time, Facebook and text messages. Ray even visited one spring break during his trip to Myrtle Beach! After college we both returned to Long Island and reconnected (again). We became fast friends and spent most of our weekends grabbing drinks, masking feelings, and making new memories. Timing however wasn't right-- Dana was moving to Boston and getting ready to start her next chapter. This next chapter allowed us to grow individually and consequently grow apart. We both established our own careers, developed independence, dated others, and enjoyed our early 20's. Fast forward to three years ago when Dana came home one weekend to Long Island to say goodbye to her family home, and join her sister at the annual "Irish-fest" in Long Beach. Unexpectedly, Dana received a text from Ray asking if she was home and going to festival. Dana was there, and so was Ray, so after 5 years the two met for drinks and reconnected (again). We have been together ever since that festival, loving each other from a distance and working hard to bridge that gap and finally moving in together. Timing was on our side this time around--we finally knew who and what we wanted and all that time, it was always each other.
After 2.5 years of dating, Ray took Dana to their (now) Wedding venue and got down on one knee. The Heritage Club at Bethpage has been a venue we've both loved and had envisioned getting married at for some time. After orchestrating a fake appointment there, Ray was able to convince Dana to take a walk around the property and proposed at the location of where our future "first look" will take place. Ray had his mom and sister there hiding in the bushes to capture the moment -- with champagne in tow!
