A short walk from The Grande, Pigeon Island combines history and natural beauty. The Gros Islet Street party has taken place every Friday for more than 50 years (with the exception of Good Friday). Every Friday, starting at sunset, the residents of Gros Islet fire up their barbecues, ice own the Piton beer, set up table-top bars in the streets, and get ready to welcome thousands of revelers to their vibrant fishing village. Arts and crafts vendors lay out their stalls and the town center becomes DJ central with a giant sound system to keep the street party bumping until the early hours of Saturday morning. Bring your appetite for fresh fish caught only hours before cooking by the town’s fishermen as well as other local favorites like conch, spiny lobster, and bwigo (whelks).
