How We Met

We met during our freshman year in college back in 2008. Ray was with his friends and I was with mine when both were introduced to each other. Ray thought I was cute :) and searched me on Facebook as soon as he got home. I didn't notice Ray until the next semester when we had a class together. We later became friends which turned into something romantically summer of 2009.

The Proposal

The long awaited day: I always knew I wanted to make this moment special for Iris. What better way to make this day special, than to share it with the ones we love. With the help from Iris' favorite sister, Tricia, we reached out to family and friends a few months prior to the proposal. The plan was to have Iris' sister (and a few close friends) take Iris out to a wedding fair in Napa; then have myself, family, and friends surprise her at Domain Carneros Winery in Napa. Leading up to the week of the "wedding fair" I told Iris that I could not make the fair because I needed to cover a shift at work. Additionally, I told her that I wanted to have a fancy dinner the week after. I wanted to make her think I would propose at the fancy dinner instead; because at this point Iris knew the proposal was coming, but she didn't know when. This was a way to throw her off from expecting it to be on the actual day in Napa...On the day of the proposal, I was so nervous... I couldn't stop moving and couldn't sit still. This was a long time coming, and the day was finally here. On the way to the winery, we almost crossed paths with Iris, but eventually made it there without being seen. Family and friends followed suit. We gathered and awaited at the bottom of the steps in the Winery. We were hiding as Iris made her way down the steps. She was taking forever and a day because Tricia was taking pictures of her (pretending to be her personal photographer for the day). My palms were sweaty, I started to forget the words in my head that I wanted to say, and my heart was racing. She finally arrived at the bottom of the steps, and was so shocked. She was blindsided... Family and friends soon after appeared from their hiding places. I said a few words, got down on one knee, popped the question, and got a YES! Everything came together so perfectly...It was definitely a special day for both of us...
