FAQs

We know destination weddings can come with plenty of questions. We've tried to answer a few of them here!
Question

What Costs am I Responsible for?

Answer

We will be covering the costs of several meals including the rehearsal dinner, reception and hangover brunch. However, you will be responsible for all other meals. Since we are staying in one central location, we will likely take up a collection in order to buy food and drinks for guests staying at the house. You will be responsible for your airfare and any additional excursions/activities you choose to partake in on the island, even if the wedding couple has arranged/booked it.

Question

Do I Need a Passport?

Answer

No! St. Thomas is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands, and a passport is not needed to get there. If you are traveling to St. Thomas with a layover in Puerto Rico, you still will not need a passport as it is also part of the U.S. In addition, St. Thomas uses the American dollar, so you will not need to exchange currency either. If you do plan on traveling over to the British Virgin Islands (which can be done via ferry), you WILL need a passport to enter those islands.

Question

What is your dress code?

Answer

This is a beach wedding - no ties, heels, suits or shoes required! We want you to feel comfortable and cool in whatever you choose to wear.

Question

Do I Need to Stay the Whole Weekend?

Answer

No you don't! While we have the villa rented and activities planned from Wednesday, June 10 to Sunday, June 14, you are welcome to come and leave as you need to. The ceremony & reception will be on Friday, June 12 in the evening. If you do not plan on staying the whole time, please let us know your travel itinerary.

Question

What About Transportation?

Answer

We will have enough cars rented to transport everyone to and from wedding events (rehearsal dinner, airport, excursions, etc.). However, taxis are very expensive in St. Thomas and not recommended for use to and from our villa. If you're in a more populated area, like Charlotte Amalie, they are more reasonably priced and available for use. If you'd like to be able to travel around the island on your own, we recommend renting a car. Please note that they do drive on the left side of the road, and Google maps is fairly unreliable. The roads are windy and narrow, and not always easy to navigate.
