Believe it or not, we worked together for over a year without ever having a real conversation (guess whose fault that was). That all changed when the air conditioning went out in Raychel’s building. While everyone else wisely chose to work from home, Raychel stayed behind… alone… with no AC… in the scorching Alabama summer heat. Enter Jaime, who heroically volunteered to drop off a work document in person. After days of isolation, Raychel seized the opportunity and promptly trapped him in her office, talking nonstop for a solid hour. Somehow, instead of running away, he stayed—and that unexpected conversation turned into a friendship. That friendship eventually led to our first official date on the Fourth of July, complete with fireworks (both literal and figurative). The rest, as they say, is history—and we’re so glad one broken AC unit brought us together.
