Just like many generations before us, we met on Bumble. Our first date involved us both trying to get out of work early to sporadically meet at a winery, so obviously only good things were going to happen from there. While we didn't make it to a winery, we were able to meet in person that day and made a fast connection at a wine bar.
Sarah signed for the certified mail for what she suspected was her engagement ring because she was working from home. Due to Covid, the jazz restaurant where Ray had wanted to propose was closed. He did the next best thing and was able to get the food to go. Sarah had dressed up for our carry out dinner at home and thought if the proposal was going to happen, it would be at dinner. If you know Ray, he's all about the unexpected and keeping you off the scent. Later that night, Ray made some of his famous popcorn. He set the engagement ring in the top layer of the popcorn. Sarah requested more butter on her popcorn, which she never does. Then Sarah proceeded to toss and shake her popcorn, unknowingly working the ring deeper and deeper into the popcorn bucket. Sarah got full so Ray ate a lot and handed it back to Sarah to finish. It was then she saw the ring.
