It's On!

Yay! We have some exciting news! Logan and I will be getting married August 1, 2020! With the change of plans and having to do things a little smaller than we originally hoped, we decided to have the wedding in our home parish in Eden where we will begin our married life together! The church is limited to 125 guests, so we have reserved those seats for our families. However, we are also having the reception in Eden immediately following the ceremony, so we hope you will join us there! Please check your emails and watch Facebook for more specific details! We will be reopening the RSVP link so we can get an accurate headcount for our new date!

Update

We’ve all been reminded this year that sometimes things are out of our control and there’s truly nothing we can do about it. Times like this require us to really exercise that faith muscle and trust in God’s plan. Even when we don’t understand the circumstances and challenges that we’re up against, we can trust in His plan to make everything beautiful in its time. When Logan and I started planning our wedding we talked about what was most important to us for our special day. Having our family members present was obviously the most important thing, other than getting married in the Catholic Church to bring witness to the love of Christ and His Body to the people we love. Because things are out of our control and because the above mentioned things are the most important to us, we’ve made the decision to postpone our wedding because Logan’s dad is unable to be there given the current circumstances with his job. He has been in Iraq since March and we recently found out the travel ban was extended again and he will not be home in time for the wedding. Because we have no way of knowing at this time when his dad will be home, it will be hard to plan ahead. When he gets a flight home we will be back into the fast and furious mode trying to get everything worked out. Please understand that whatever we decide to do for our wedding we had all the intentions of doing it big. However, given these crazy times and trying circumstances, that just might not be entirely possible. When we figure it out, we will have another update. We love you all and we thank you for your prayers and for understanding our situation. God is always good and I’m so excited to marry the man he made for me when that day gets here. ❤️

How We Met

Logan and I met in college through a pro-life group! I was president of the organization when he transferred to Angelo State University, and I had designed some t-shirts to sell for a fundraiser. I guess they weren't too girly, because he messaged our group Facebook page, and wanted to order one. When the shirts came in, Logan came to the office where I worked to pick them up, and he probably said two words - maybe! It didn't take him long to ask for my number and soon enough we were going on ice cream dates, and driving around the big city of San Angelo quite often.

Our Story

Logan and I were actually friends for a long time before we started dating. They say that's the best way to start out and I completely agree. It's funny to think about now, but we definitely had our ups and downs throughout those years. The story usually went something like this... One of us would express our feelings, the other wasn't on the same page, we would get irritated with each other, and then we would quit talking for a while. What we know now, is that it just wasn't time yet. God was preparing both of our hearts for each other until it was truly in His time and not ours. What I think is really sweet though, is that we could never stay mad at each other. We ALWAYS picked up where we left off, and our friendship was always centered on a Christ-like love. We prayed for each other long before we started dating, and we supported each other through the highs and lows. No matter what stage we were in, we always sought to love each other like Jesus loves each of us. Looking back now, it was the single most important thing of our friendship, because it set us up to have the BEST relationship. Before Logan moved to Gustine for his first coaching job, we had our regular ice cream date and that was the last time I saw him that summer. It's crazy to think that just a few short months later I would realize that he was the absolute love of my life. Logan reached out to me again in November and from that moment on, I knew something had changed. We decided to get lunch for once and not just ice cream, and we sat and talked for 5 HOURS! From that day forward, I knew that he wasn't just my friend anymore. God had been working on my heart for a long time, and I was finally ready to let Logan love me, like he really always had. I will forever be thankful for his patience all those years. It's the reason we made it to today, and Jesus, of course!

An Enchanted Engagement

I love hiking, so it was fitting that Logan incorporated that into the sweetest surprise ever! Honestly, I'm still at a loss for words when it comes to talking about the proposal. He really did THAT good! We had plans to go hiking at Enchanted Rock and so onward and upward we went. Little did I know there was a photographer following us the entire time! We made it to the top and we just did the regular exploring you do after you catch your breath - LOL! We looked around, sat at a couple different places enjoying the view, and laughed at ourselves like we do best. He was acting a little funny so I was kind of thinking he might be up to something, but I really didn't know what to expect. He kept telling me to go stand by the edge and take a picture and I was like, "What? Are you trying to push me off or what?!" Anyways, being the stubborn person I am, I just sat there and asked for some grapes instead - ha-ha! Then he asked me if I was ready to go down yet, and I was like, "Umm, no. Not really." I'm sure the photographer was kind of wondering what was going on at this point! Finally, after he asked me for probably the tenth time if I was ready to go down, I said, "Okay. Fine!" We stood up and Logan grabbed both of my hands. He turned towards me and started to tell me all the reasons he loved me. All the while I was thinking, "OH MY GOSH HE'S ABOUT TO DO THIS!" Then, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We hiked Enchanted Rock and I came home with my very own. When we got back to the house, ALL of our family was there and I cried like a baby. It was the most perfect day, and our hearts were completely overjoyed. I can't wait to spend forever with my best friend! Thank you, Jesus!
