This fairytale of love begins on a late summer afternoon during the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year. Ahilan was hanging out with some friends in the halls of the club rooms at Baruch waiting for class to begin. Rav just transferred over from Hunter and was eager to start off the new school year and make new friends. Fortunately a mutual friend decided to bring Rav over to make introductions. As Rav was walking towards what looked like an extremely basic group of brown people, her heart stopped when she noticed this man wearing a blue sweatshirt and black Sweatpants. He was laughing about something and she could not help but smile while watching him. She slowly walked over and they locked eyes for the first time. As they acknowledged each other, music started playing in the background...SIKE! Never said it was going to be a bollywood story! 😉

Over the next couple of years their relationship slowly but organically grew from being acquaintances to friends and (to the surprise of Ahilan) best friends. The puzzle pieces naturally started to fit together and before they knew it, they were dating. So how did Ahilan ask Rav to be his girlfriend? He never did! Instead, on their anniversary date December 23, 2012, Ahilan expressed his intimate feelings for Rav. For Rav, this was the day “Babycakes” (Rav’s famous nickname for Ahilan) was born. However, there is a small faction of conspiracy theorists who believe this date is incorrect and is actually the day that Ahilan switched up his wardrobe and decided to wear Jeans for the first time in front of Rav. BUT this is #fakenews. 😆

It was a beautiful morning on July 14th. Ahilan planned a "date" day renting a motor boat at the Bayside Marina. They played music, drank some rosé, and were basking the summer sun. When it was time, Ahilan nervously asked Rav to stand on the other side of the boat for a picture. While she was facing the other direction he said “Babe turn around” and the rest is history! After celebrating at the marina with their friends and family, they enjoyed a celebratory meal at Taco Bell, took a nap, and then partied the night away! 💍
