FAQs

Question

What time should I arrive to the Ceremony?

Answer

It is recommended that you arrive 20 mins prior to start of ceremony. Anyone arriving after the 5pm start time will not be allowed until AFTER the ceremony.

Question

Is an RSVP mandatory?

Answer

Yes. It is not optional. If there RSVP is not made, you will not be allowed at the wedding. We are trying to keep the guest attendance to a certain amount, so additions with no prior approval will be denied entry.

Question

When should I RSPV?

Answer

As soon as possible would be ideal but no later than May 15, 2026

Question

Is there a dress code

Answer

Wedding Attire or Semi-Formal Attire. Please avoid wearing anything that would be considered informal. Ladies, it is asked to refrain from wearing white/ivory or the wedding colors as that only for the wedding party.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we are wanting a child free wedding, we understand that sometimes that's not always do-able. Kids should remain seated as there will be no running in the building.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

As long as a RSVP is made and letting the wedding couple know there will be a plus 1.

Question

Is there a cut off time for Kids/Older Adults

Answer

Yes. There is an 8pm cut off time for kids and older adult can choose to leave. All formal moments will be done before that time. After that time, it will be party time and if you don't want your kids or older adults to be a part of that environment, you can leave without missing out on big moments

Question

How is the parking at the wedding venue?

Answer

The wedding is Downtown at the Bank of the James. You will enter in on the MAIN STREET garage entrance, which will take you up to level 4 parking. You would then take the elevator to the 8th Floor to the wedding ceremony. Remember, plan your time accordingly. Tardiness to the ceremony will be DENIED entry.

Question

How do I book my hotel stay?

Answer

The link for the hotel is on this website. Click "Hotel Stay". You should then see a listing for the Lynchburg Grand Hotel and the option to "View". Once you click this link it will take you to our wedding party block where you may reserve the room type you need. There is no payment required, however, a card is needed to lock in your reservation. You may also call and give our name "Nelson Wedding" and reserve your stay that way. If no rooms are available let either of the couple know so that additional rooms can be added at the honored rate.

Question

-For Wedding Party- Am I required to stay in the hotel, even though I am local?

Answer

Yes. Although Thursday is not mandatory for your stay, Friday is. This is to ensure that everyone is on time with getting ready the morning of the wedding. Should you have a hair appointment wedding morning, ensure that it is early enough so that you can be on time for make-up. This should be discussed with Raven before hand to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

Question

What happens if I run a few minutes late to the wedding?

Answer

The wedding start time is 5pm. If you arrive to the venue late, and that means to the actual doors of where the ceremony is being held on the 8th floor, or anything prior, you will be DENIED entry. It is strongly suggested that you arrive at least 15-20 minutes early to ensure your attendance. The Bride will not have her phone so DO NOT CALL

Question

What happens if I didn't RSVP and still show up?

Answer

You will be denied entry. There are no exceptions. So please make sure that the couple know that you are planning to participate.

Question

I RSVP'd but I decided to bring a date later. Is that okay?

Answer

No. We are trying to keep the guest count to a certain amount and would like to plan accordingly. If they are not planned for, they will not eat or possibly be denied. Again, strongly recommended that you let the couple know before you come.
