It was on a group trip to the Magic Kingdom that Bob knew he was doomed. Although he couldn't stand Disney or crowds, that one girl had an energy that infected him and from then on he was hooked. Bob and Raven worked together at Universal Creative since 2012. It was while working on Skull Island: Reign of Kong that both began to realize they had feelings for one another. After that trip they began to spend more time together, often sharing lunch and a mid-afternoon chocolate chip cookie. On May 23, 2014 they finally admitted their feelings to one another and started dating.
Making plans that work just as you hoped? Not in this case - but the end results were better than I could have ever hoped for. I had initially planned an EPCOT proposal, but was informed by friends that Boyz 2 Men would be playing that night and were causing huge backups at security to get into the park. So I got to work on plan B - Animal Kingdom. I picked a location to have a large group of friends and family meet to witness the proposal. With help from friends I got the word around to meet in the Discovery Island Trails at 7 PM on November 7th, a Wednesday night. We arrived at Animal Kingdom at 6:30, just barely missing some friends as we walked in. To kill time I took Raven to Dinoland. We rode TriceraTop Spin - we could have sat together in the front row, but with more coordinating to do I hopped in the back seat. At this point Raven had no doubt something was up. I found out the gang had gathered and let them know we were on our way. First I accidentally led us up the exit to A Bug’s Life - I realized my mistake when I could see our friends on the other side of a stone wall. I quickly redirected without her noticing, but was starting to get nervous. My concerns grew as I realized much of Discovery Island was under construction - after what seemed like a never ending construction wall we finally made it to the beginning of the trail and started walking toward a moment that would change our lives. I know Raven was wondering what was going on. After a short walk we arrived where everyone was hiding and she was so surprised! But mostly she was surprised at my coordination skills (I believe her exact words were, “You planned something!”). I have some fantastic friends that were a huge help in getting the gang there. Everything was perfect - the weather, the location, our group of friends, and my mom and dad. The proposal went off without a hitch, and she said “YES!” A gathering for drinks and snacks at the Nomad Lounge followed to cap off a fantastic night.
