Dublin (DUB)

There are a handful of airports in Ireland, but Dublin is the largest (and cheapest) to fly into from the United States. Please keep in mind this airport is a little over 2 hours from where the wedding festivities will take place so you will need to book transportation of some sort to get to and from Ennis. See below for transportation options.

Shannon (SNN)

The Shannon airport is 20 minutes from our wedding accommodations making for another great option. Flights form the US to SNN tend to be a couple hundred more per ticket as opposed to flying into Dublin.

Old Ground Hotel Ennis

We have a block or rooms reserved for guests at Old Ground Hotel Ennis. To book your room under this block, please email reservations@oldgroundhotel.ie and mention RATKE/HOLM and they will reserve your room for you. You DO NOT have to stay at this hotel, it is just a recommendation. Our provided wedding day transportation will be picking up and dropping off from this location.

Ennis is accessible from all major urban centers by train, bus, coach, taxi and rental car.

Car Rentals

If you are interested in renting a car for your stay in Ireland, I highly recommend reading the attached article beforehand. Please note that in Ireland they do drive on the opposite side of the car AND on the opposite side of the road than we are used to. Most cars in Ireland are operated by a manual gear shift. All car hire companies will have a limited range of automatics available for hire in all car sizes. If you are interested in hiring an automatic car, the best advice is to book early to ensure availability and call ahead to make sure your booking is filled. There have been occasions when tourists book an Automatic and find a manual version at the curb (due to the scarcity of same). Automatics are significantly more expensive to rent than manual cars. If you are not comfortable driving under these conditions, please make other transportation arrangements for your stay.

Coach Bus

Coach buses are an easy and affordable way to get around Ireland. Dublin Coach provide an hourly service from Dublin city centre and Dublin airport direct to Ennis town centre dropping guests a mere 5 minute walk from the Old Ground Hotel.
