Ryan and Lauren originally met during Volunteer Basic Orientation Class. This is the first class you take when you start volunteering for your local Fire Department. They didn't think much of this as they were both focused on what tasks they needed to complete their individual goals within the Fire Department. Two months later, they had EMT class together. Little did they know, God had a plan and Lauren and Ryan were stuck studying together for 6 months! Ryan and Lauren would both get to class early and play 1 on 1 basketball before class. Lauren was coming from her college classes and Ryan began to make Lauren dinner which included PB&J sandwiches and salt & vinegar chips. Which happened to be Lauren's favorite. Ryan and Lauren studied together and were partners during their final exam. They passed on their first attempt! After their last class, Ryan asked Lauren to be his girlfriend, she said yes!!

Lauren, Ryan, Molly and John all traveled to Iceland together. While on part of the Golden Circle, they stopped at Keird. Keird is a Volcanic Crater in Iceland. Ryan and Lauren walked around the bottom of the crater, the sky had just cleared up from raining all day. Then, Ryan and Lauren started walking back up the crater and at a particularly beautiful overlook, Ryan asked Lauren if she wanted to take a picture and she said yes. Ryan posed for the picture in the way Lauren had wanted. Right after doing so, Ryan said "How about this pose? Will you marry me?" Lauren screamed "YES!"
