It's almost the summer of 2015. I was a junior in college at Ohio State, had lived in Lincoln, NE for a summer already and was getting ready to move to Albion, NE for an internship w/ Cargill. I messaged my friend Emma Likens (now Brown) to ask about wifi in Albion. Emma told me she wasn't sure what was available up there so she messaged her friend Toni Rasmussen. Toni wasn't sure so she messaged her brother, Casey. Well, Casey started inquiring about "this girl" moving to Albion asking how old she is, if she's single, etc. Toni was not supposed to tell Emma and Emma was not supposed to tell me, but we're women and we don't work that way. Emma told me maybe I should try and meet up with Casey and Toni when I get to town as they're good people! I moved to Albion and was riding along with a coworker, Clancy. He received a call from a Rasmussen. I asked if there's a lot of Rasmussens around the area and he said yup, why do you ask? Well, Clancy wouldn't let me drop the subject so I told him the story. Casey was actually one of Clancy's customers! He proceeds to call Casey while I panic because I had not done my hair or makeup that day (typical Jordan panicking). Thankfully, Casey didn't answer and I was off the hook! We schedule another time to go meet Casey. My project that summer was presenting Cargill's online account platform to customers, walking them through the website and trying to get customers to sign up for e-signature. Casey is already well versed in CargillAg and it was the worst presentation I gave the whole summer because I was so ready for it to be over as I knew Casey knew everything I was talking about. I left him a form to fill out. A couple days later he had a "question" about the form. He came into the office, we talked for 45 mins, he asked me to go get smoked wings with him and I had to turn him down because I was going to be out of town. Ha! I felt inclined to return the ask and we went to get wings the following week and the rest is history!
It was a nice Saturday morning and the plan was for me to grain cart for Casey that day. I show up at the field and he tells me there's a sickle section missing on the bean head. He told me to watch this specific piece so the bolt would line up because the combine head needed to stop just right (not sure how I fell for this, if you’ve ever seen a bean head run before, you know it moves way too fast to try and make it stop just right). He gets in the combine and turns the head on, I keep watching closely on this specific piece. He turns the head off, and I yell to him I lost place of where it was, but yet I'm still starring right where it's supposed to be. Casey gets out of the combine, walks all the way around the front and has to point at the draper belt for me to realize it says "will you marry me?" *see photo below* To say I was completely caught off guard is an understatement!
