I met Karlie in the summer of 2023 through Uncommon Sports Group‘s (USG) Christians Working in Sports (CWS) conference. After much prayer and seeking counsel at the end of 2023, the Lord led me to reach out to Karlie. So, I mailed her a letter! After a few weeks of anticipated waiting, Karlie responded! That began a beautiful love story that only God could unfold! As we grew in friendship, the Lord led us to enter a dating relationship in the early spring. God’s word says in John 15:2 that "He prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it may bear more fruit." I knew very early on that Karlie was the one the Lord chose for me to marry. But He allowed us to experience various circumstances and periods of growth so that we might grow in knowing Him and loving Him more. Karlie has helped open my eyes and deepen my intimacy with Him in ways I never imagined! She has been a great joy and a wonderful helper in my life. She has been a catalyst for me walking into the fullness of the calling God has placed on my life. Our relationship was unconventional because Karlie and I were seven hours apart. Yet, only by His grace did He allow such a wild and wonderful journey to unfold, and I am so excited about what God has in store for us! I am so grateful to call Karlie my sister in Christ and soon-to-be wife. To tell of His story is to tell of His grace & mercy. To Him be the glory!
The Lord is wonderful...and wild. He loves weddings. He loves marriage. He loves to give good (& perfect) gifts. Rasheed is exactly that. A gift. In 2024, the Lord challenged me to give Him once again, everything. A blank slate. Handing over my desires, my expectations, everything...To follow Him and see HIS beautiful story unfold. As He led me deeper and deeper into a life surrendered (which He does daily) I began to see a "new thing" bursting forth. The more I know God, the more I learn His heart for unity. He LOVES marriage. Oh, how sacred and holy it is to represent Christ and His church. Ephesians 5 // One evening, I was praying in my Richmond single-bedroom apartment, and was led by the Holy Spirit to get very honest. I prayed, "Lord, you've called us to live in pure intimacy with others. Will you bring intimate relationships into my life?" Friends, he hears our prayers...And He acts upon them. The next day (yes, the next day) I was working in my office and realized there was a letter in my mail box. It was from, "Rasheed Flowers." As I opened up the letter, I gazed up at our Lord Jesus and smiled. "What're you doing God?", I whispered. All His ways are perfect. I'm learning what love really is. "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends." John 15:13 // It's a joy, privilege and honor to encounter and enjoy the Lord through and with Rasheed. It's wild and wonderful. I'm so excited to marry my best friend. If you know Rasheed, you can testify to this...He is kind, humble, noble, wise, servant-hearted, funny and most importantly, filled with the Spirit of God. I often am wowed by how consistently Rasheed walks in the nature of Christ, bearing fruit in every season. He loves the Word, loves people and loves some leftovers. I feel so respected, admired, pursued and called higher into holiness because of His life. Thank you, Jesus for unity. Thank you, Jesus for intimate relationships. Jesus is everything. Loving Him is the greatest calling. Knowing Him is life. The marriage supper of the Lamb is the wedding feast we're preparing for. Revelation 19:6-9 // What an honor to celebrate God's faithfulness with you. Thanks for reading, praying and supporting us in this journey. May Christ be exalted.
