How It All Began... It was Labor Day Weekend 2022, and the air was buzzing with the last taste of summer. We each found ourselves at Jenks, surrounded by friends, just looking to soak up the final bits of sunshine before fall rolled in. Joe made his first move by pointing out that I was standing in the worst possible spot to get a drink-hidden behind a pole at the beach bar at Jenks. Smooth, right? From there, the conversation turned to Hoboken since I was moving there soon, and it turned out Joe had lived there with his best friend and absolutely loved the area. He even offered to give me tours once I moved in, which we make jokes about to this day. Somewhere in between all the flirting and laughs, he asked for my number. I gave it to him-not really sure what was coming next. He texted me later that night, but we both ended up hanging with our own friend groups and never crossed paths again that evening. The next day, while I was relaxing on the beach with my family, my phone buzzed. It was Joe, inviting me to his Belmar Labor Day party. I had to decline since I was heading up to North Jersey for work the next day-but that invite stuck with me. The next two weeks flew by with late-night phone calls and FaceTime chats, diving deep into our values, dreams, and what we both wanted out of life.
