Our relationship began at a rooftop bar in downtown Norfolk, VA, and despite Evan wearing a Bucee's shirt and talking the entire time, Emma agreed to a second date. After an introduction to her cats, Pepperoni and Winnie, a few hikes in Shenandoah National Park, and numerous shared bags of gummy worms, Em and Ev were one. Soon into their relationship, Evan went on deployment to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and through five challenging months, Emma was there as the best part of his life. On post-deployment leave to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, Evan knew he wanted to propose to Emma. Following another national park trip and another deployment, they visited Yosemite National Park together. At sunrise on an overlook, Evan got down on one knee and asked Emma to spend the rest of their lives together. The future for Em and Ev holds love, more parks, more hikes and adventures, and a lot more gummy worms.
