Leon Airport (BJX) is a 1.5 hour drive from San Miguel (and close to Guanajuato). The airport is small, easy to navigate, and the city area isn’t too congested. Queretaro Airport (QRO) is a 1 hour and 20 minute drive to San Miguel. It connects to Chicago, Houston, and Dallas in the United States. For those visiting Mexico City or flying through it, San Miguel de Allende is a four-hour drive by bus. Upon arrival at either of these airports, pre-book a transfer shuttle with Bajiogo or shuttle service of your choice. If traveling in groups a split trip is the most cost effective. Private cars are also a convenient option. Once you arrive in the city the best way to soak in the magic is by foot, so bring comfortable shoes! Taxis and Ubers are readily available as well and will take you wherever you need to go, taxis require cash FYI. San Miguel is a generally safe city but practice common sense when traveling!
