Question

What is a Self-Uniting Marriage?

Answer

Pennsylvania is one of the few states that offers couples the option of a self-uniting marriage license. A self-uniting marriage is one in which the couple are married without the presence of a third-party officiant. The custom is rooted in the Quaker faith and is actually part of a formal wedding ceremony. This option is extremely appealing to couples who do not have strong religious ties or beliefs, and would prefer to not have a religious figure involved in their ceremony. Because Pennsylvania has a large Quaker population, the license is available in most counties. But you don't have to be a Quaker to take advantage of the service.

Question

Can I be in your Wedding Ceremony?

Answer

The fun thing about planning the ceremony ourselves, is that we have room to shake up some traditions. If you are a friend or family member that would like to participate in the ceremony, or help us plan, I'd love to brainstorm with you.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Absolutely! We love your kids, and would be happy to see them! Check out the "Things to Do" section of the website too. Smith Memorial Playground is a really nice place to bring your kids to play.

Question

How should I dress for the ceremony?

Answer

Some things to keep in mind: We are having a low-key wedding ceremony and reception in a state park. There will be grass, dirt, wildlife, etc... It will be early Autumn. That being said, the weather in October has traditionally been in the 60-70's the last few years. Plan to wear some light layers. We will have a professional photographer to capture memories. This is not the time to bring out stilettos and a tuxedo, so use your best judgement to wear something that you will feel comfortable wearing and being photographed in.

Question

How do I get to the Park? The Pavillion?

Answer

The address provided (351 Gradyville Road, Newton Square, PA, 19073) can be used with a GPS to locate and provide directions the park entrance from your location. Once in the park, follow the signs to Pavillion 11. There will be plenty of parking available nearby

Question

If you have any troubles with the RSVP function, please reach out to either of us through phone, email, or social media, and we will resolve the issue ASAP.
