We met at our friend Tess' wedding in 2022. Tess introduced us by telling us that we were the same person, so we HAD to get along. After the wedding, we kept in touch via Snapchat. Debbie was still finishing her last year of Optometry school and moving every 3 months. At each stop during rotations, Steve would jokingly mention about coming to visit her. Debbie moved to Virginia Beach in July 2023 to start working. In November 2023, Steve came out to visit for a long weekend. We had 6 months of long distance dating. Steve would fly and spend a month in Virginia and then fly back to his home in Michigan. Eventually, we made the decision that we should move in together and now we both live in Virginia Beach. We frequently walk together, attend festivals at local parks, listen to jazz music at the jazz bar across the street, and watch sunsets together. Steve proposed August 2025 when we took an evening trip to Cape Charles, Virginia to watch the sunset over the Chesapeake Bay. Cape Charles is where we spent our 1st anniversary and we hope to watch many more sunsets there together in the future.
