It was one of our mutual friends birthday weekend, we were introduced for the second time within a year. However, I was unaware this time our connection would be different! While preparing to leave for the party, I stepped into the kitchen where everyone waited. His best friend said “Damn, it’s about time Raniece!” It felt as if everything stopped for a moment as I were primping and looked up, I caught Bo looking at me with stars in his eyes like the cartoons! Of course I acted as if I didn’t notice him noticing me. Throughout that night he waited on me like no one had, making sure my feet didn’t touch the floor, danced, took pictures, and he even fed me a cupcake while at the party. The night eventually came to an end, and he was nothing short of a gentleman, helped me pack my truck. Thirty minutes later he’d call me fussing because he’d learned from our friends I lived almost an hour away and he didn’t want me driving that far at that time of night. He called me the next morning as he drove back home to Jacksonville, FL, we didn’t hang up until he reached home four hours later! We continued to communicate long distance daily for the next couple months, falling asleep holding the phone like we were in high school again! Bo eventually came back to Atlanta, GA to visit me. The morning after his return home, he called me on his way to work as usual and said, “Listen, I know you said you didn’t want to rush thing, want a long distance relationship, or put titles on anything, but I’ve gotta make you mine. No one has ever made me feel the way that you do!” I couldn’t stop grinning like Ciely from “The Color Purple” on the other side of the phone. I couldn’t believe I honestly felt the same way. We began making bi-monthly trips to visit each other or explore somewhere new. We are so blessed and grateful to have found one another when we did. We are like the missing piece to each other’s puzzle. We have learned loving isn’t hard but most definitely takes patience.
