Although we did not start dating until 2017, our friendship began over a decade ago when we met as freshman in high school. We first got to know each other as dance partners at Brebeuf’s Dance Marathon and then as classmates throughout high school. While we went our separate ways in college with Matt attending IU and Olivia at Northwestern, we rekindled our friendship at Brother’s Bar in Broad Ripple the summer before our senior year. We started dating that summer and began our long-distance relationship which consisted of many FaceTime calls and long hours stuck in traffic on I-65. Our first year of dating was busy exploring Chicago together, spending time with family in Indianapolis, and going out with friends in Bloomington. It was only weeks into dating that Matt found true love in Olivia’s most trusted canine companion, Mylo (@mylothemorkie). After college, our long-distance relationship continued when Olivia moved to Louisville for law school and Matt moved to downtown Indy for med school. Despite being 2 hours apart, we were able to see each other nearly every weekend with a little help from Olivia’s grandpa, the greyhound bus, and the old reliable Mini Cooper. In December of 2019, Matt tied a ring to Mylo’s collar, got down on one knee, and asked Olivia to marry him (after having the ring stashed under his bed for almost a year). When COVID-19 struck in 2020, our classes switched from in-person to online. With too much time on our hands and Olivia’s premium subscription to Puppyfind.com, we found Mylo’s little sister, Winnie. In December of 2020, we moved into our first apartment together in downtown Indianapolis. After over a year of engagement, we are thrilled to be back in Chicago for our wedding and are so excited to celebrate with friends and family!
