Question

Traditional Ceremony FAQ

Answer

Our traditional West African ceremony is a vibrant cultural celebration uniting our families through customs, music, and dance. Attire: Traditional attire is highly encouraged (Ankara, Kente, Agbada, dresses, etc.), but formal wear is also welcome. If a color theme or asoebi is provided, please follow it. Avoid all-white unless specified. Where to get outfits: We highly recommend Divine Sewing & Fabrics (Silver Spring, MD). Mrs. Abigail specializes in custom African attire and delivers excellent craftsmanship. Contact: 240-246-3068 or Instagram @divinesewingandfabrics. Other options include Falika’s Fashions and Afrique Fashion House. What to Expect: The ceremony may be longer than usual and very interactive—guests are encouraged to cheer, celebrate, and dance. Gifts: Cash gifts are appreciated. “Spraying” money during dancing is welcome but optional. Food & Music: Enjoy authentic West African cuisine and Afrobeats/highlife music. Timing: Please arrive on time, but events may begin slightly later. Come ready to celebrate, dance, and experience the culture
