After chatting on a dating site for a couple days we met for the first time at Dunlop/Mulcaster in Barrie to go for drinks at the Sky Bar downtown. Drinks lead to dinner at the Potted Pig and dinner lead to a trip to the drive-in to watch Independence Day. By 4am Randy finally arrived back home...and from there, our Happily Ever After began.
Our luggage had been lost somewhere between Toronto-Dublin-Barcelona before our cruise to Europe. The first day on the ship we were locked up in our room for the whole day waiting for our travel clothes to be laundered. We decided to go for a massage after finally being freed. It wasn't until after, that I realized my brush was in my luggage and I wouldn't be able to wash/dry my hair properly. It was when I found out it was also the first formal night of the cruise and we were going to miss it, that I had a full blown break down! While trying to make up for our day, we put on our only clothes and found a perfect table for two at the back of the ship and enjoyed a drink together. With the crescent moon reflecting perfectly over the prop water and not a soul to be seen, Randy got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. My response was (obviously) "Are you joking?" to which he replied, "That would be a terrible joke!". "Are you sure?" I asked, just to make sure. After he put the ring on and said he was positive I of course said, "YES!" Randy's version: I spent millions to rent the whole back of the boat so no one would be around. Picked up the crescent moon and moved to the very centre of the back of the boat so it would reflect the perfectly on the turned up prop wash from the ship. All while the extra algae I requested created the perfect glow in the water. And since we were on our way to Florence I had Leonardo DaVinci's great-great-grandson hand paint the most perfect stars across the sky with just the right wisp of clouds. Then after picking out my finest track pants and Laurier University t-shirt, I got down on one knee...and well, the rest is history! We are so excited to celebrate the beginning of our family's Happily Ever After with all of you! Hope to see you all in Mexico!!
