"... second chances are stronger than secrets. You can let secrets go. But a second chance? You don't let that pass you by." - Daisy Whitney For six months in 2012/2013, we dated. We laughed, we loved, we fell apart. Fast forward, five years! After months of friends telling me that I should date Chris again, God granted us a second chance. We ran into each other at the annual Tour de Hill bike ride hosted by the Randles. A connection was still there so we decided to have dinner. And the rest is history.
While on one of our many adventures, Chris and I discovered that even though selfie sticks are terrible they can be quite convenient. So before we set off for our Christmas trip to Tennessee, Chris surprised me with one so that we could get some good pictures of us hiking the trails. On our first day exploring Hemlock Falls, Chris suggested that we get a selfie in front of the Fiery Gizzard. I didn't think anything more than what a great idea for a picture. He crouched down to pull the stick from our day bag while I kept snapping away. When he didn't immediately get up, I finally turned around to look at him. I found him on one knee holding the most gorgeous of rings, and I responded with, "Are you kidding me?" He said some other things that I'm sure were sweet, mushy and terribly romantic. However, in all my excitement to spend the rest of my life with this man, I completely blanked. It's probably for the best since he'd probably be horribly embarrassed for me to share.
