How We Met

Five years ago I decided to get my handgun carry permit. I was traveling long distance to pharmacy school on curvy Virginia back roads with no cell phone service. I knew if I broke down I would feel better if I had a way to protect myself. I went to the class alone and of course found the cutest guy to sit next to. We talked and got to know each other a little. The class was over and we went our separate ways. He found me on Facebook but that was it for then as we were both unavailable at the time. Fast forward two years later. I was invited on a hike to witness my best friend Baylor’s engagement and what a special day it was. It just so happened that Neil was also invited because he worked with Baylor’s fiancé and he offered to take photos. I remembered him from the class and he was just as handsome as I remembered. We talked a lot that day and the rest is history. My best friends engagement lead to my own.

The Proposal

The first vacation we ever went on together was in March of 2016 to Negril, Jamaica and man did we fall in love. That was the most magical trip in the most amazing place. The people, the food, the water. It was breathtaking. Due to Neil being in the police academy we didn’t get to vacation the next year so we dreamed of what we would do when he graduated. I though about going somewhere else. But why? We knew how amazing it was in Jamaica. So about two years after our first trip, we planned to go back to the same resort. I was so excited. The past two years brought a lot of changes. We moved across the country to Texas. Neil graduated top of his class from the police academy, I was working night shift for Walgreen's and we got our first puppy together named Gypsy. I was ready to kick back and relax in paradise with my love. It was just as beautiful as I remembered. We are both horrible at taking pictures. We hardly have any pictures together over the past three years so he knew I wanted to take some good pictures this time. Neil went and talked to the resort about having their photographer take pictures of us. I was excited to capture great memories of this trip. We took some in the gardens then we went down to the beach. While taking pictures on the beach as the sun set behind us I turned around and there he was, down on one knee. My heart stopped. I have no idea what he said, all I know is it was the happiest moment of my life. Of course I said YES! Jamaica is our place where our favorite memories were made together and so there was no question that we should be married there and make more memories with all of you!
