How We Met

Til Death Cab Do We Cutie

Randi and Josh’s story begins like all great modern romances- with a dating app. Randi had recently moved to Minneapolis after taking a travel nurse contract and thought it would be fun to go on a few dates and discover more about the city she was quickly falling in love with. Josh had just returned home from a 6 month adventure of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with his sister. Randi had two tickets to a band she liked, and Josh pretended to know who they were. Their first date was going to see ‘Death Cab for Cutie.’ Now, more than 3 years and countless adventures later, the two are about to set out on their greatest thrill yet- marriage. We cannot wait to celebrate with you at Camp Huninghake!

FAQs

Question

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

Answer

Don’t let the summer camp theme fool you. We’d love to see you in your best and brightest! Our dress code is Cocktail Attire. Please no jeans or shorts. Feel free to wear bright colors or patterns. Copy the link below for examples of Cocktail Attire! https://www.pinterest.com/ocpeach/cocktail-attire-examples/

Question

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

Minnesota in August is a breeze. Literally. The high is typically in the high 70’s/ low 80’s and at night it will be in the low 60’s. The lake breeze is incredible and while Camp Lincoln’s cabins do not have A/C- we promise you won’t notice.

Question

Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?

Answer

Camp Huninghake is a one-stop-shop. The ceremony, reception and sleeping accommodations are all on the same campus and just steps away from one another. No need to call an uber at the end of the night :)

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be outdoors?

Answer

At this time, the ceremony will be taking place outdoors with an indoor reception to follow. Our reception space is on the lake front, so there is plenty of fresh air to take in. We do have accommodations to move the ceremony indoors weather permitting.

Question

Am I invited to the Rehearsal Dinner/ Welcome Party?

Answer

Sort-of! We will be having the rehearsal dinner with close family on Thursday evening at Camp Lincoln. Following that, we will be having a welcome party at the same location to kick off the weekend celebration! All festivities for the entire weekend will take place at Camp Lincoln. Please join us for our “Opening Ceremony” bonfire on Thursday, 8/20 at 7 pm. If you plan on staying with us at Camp Lincoln, you will be able to receive your bunk assignment that night as well!

Answer

Camp Lincoln is an incredible historic boy’s camp built in 1909. If you choose to stay with us at Camp Lincoln, you will be in one of several rustic cabins! Question

Are there any other sleeping accommodations in the area?

Here are a few of our favorites: Grand View Lodge (7 minutes from Camp Lincoln) Holiday Inn Brainerd- Baxter (15 minutes from Camp Lincoln) Country Inn & Suites Baxter (15 minutes from Camp Lincoln) Good Ol' Days Family Resort (10 minutes from Camp Lincoln) There are also several Airbnb’s in the area.
