We met in the sauna at the YMCA. He was relaxing before work and I was hanging out with a friend. When I walked into the sauna, Arthur and I were immediately drawn to each other. A few moments passed and he and I started chatting, unfortunately leaving my friend in silence. Needless to say, he left. Arthur and I talked until he had to go to work, at which point I went after my friend and apologized. I must say, he was very gracious about it all! After all that fuss, I realized that I hadn't even asked for Arthur's name. Talk about "all for naught!"
When Arthur asked me out, we were hanging out on the weekend after Christmas. I had received a Ross gift card, and I decided that I needed HIS opinion on a new dress. Off to Ross we went! I tried on a few dresses, and when I came out of the dressing room in the last one, Arthur said, "You should get that dress and come have dinner at Casa Mia with me." Not sure if he was asking me on a date or not, I agreed and bought the dress. After dinner, we went to his house for a little while before I went home for the evening, and we got to talking about us and how we had been dating off and on for the last few months. He suddenly got this big smile on his face and asked me to be his girlfriend, and of course I said yes! We started spending all of our time together. Being with each other has always felt natural, and even after all this time, we rarely tire of the other's company!
We were sleeping in on a Sunday morning when Arthur woke me up, telling me he had had a nightmare. In his nightmare, we were not together and both seeing other people. He told me that he would never be as happy with anyone else as he was with me, and said the magic words, "Will you marry me?" I looked him dead in the eye and said, "You're serious." He nodded, and I tackled him, saying, "Yes!" He turned around to grab the ring, but it was nowhere to be found! He hid it so I wouldn't find it, but hid it so well that he hid it from himself! Luckily, I remembered that something had fallen behind the nightstand a few nights before, so Arthur dove back there in search of the ring and emerged victorious. He put the ring on my finger, and the rest is history!
