At the beginning of 2020, it was an exciting time in Kansas City! Spirits were high and the color red was everywhere. Most people think it’s because the Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl and won! But in reality, it’s actually because Erin and I met in January of 2020. Red is romantic and people wore those colors because they were happy we met and excited for what was to come. I mean, how couldn’t you be!? Most people assume we met through mutual friends or at a cute coffee shop. Both very real options that could’ve happened. Maybe, a shared coffee or bagel with some deep chats. Instead, we met over a close cousin of “Coffee Meets Bagel”... Hinge, the dating app! it all started when close friends told both of us to stop being so prideful and try a dating app out. Erin was my first date on an app! I got the heck off the app asap tried to make moves right away, starting with getting her number. :) After a few dates, a Super Bowl parade shared together, a couple of birthday parties (our birthdays are March 18th and 19th), we fell in love. (I told her I loved her on her birthday). Then COVID quarantine happened, which expedited our ability to see each other more and felt like God really matured our relationship as we navigated the challenges and joys of what 2020 was. Our lives became more and more integrated as we traveled to Idaho together, visited both sides of family, and started going to church together. All that to say, it was such an amazing journey and were thankful for what it was. On January 2nd, 2021 (our anniversary of the first day we met), Erin was driving back from Colorado with her roommates. I surprised Erin at a random outlook 2 hours west of Kansas City during sunset and asked her to marry me. She said YES. And here we are! Loving each other, loving life, ready to travel (duh), and excited to live life together alongside you all.
