Ran began to set the stage for his proposal in late August 2019. It had been a busy summer of traveling to multiple friends' weddings, and the two finally had a weekend to themselves in early September. Ran made reservations at Restaurant Alma in Minneapolis on Friday, September 6th, 2019, and began playing it off as "date night". Little did Megan know, much more than date night was in the works. Both Megan and Ran work in downtown Minneapolis, so the plan was to walk from their offices across the landmark Minneapolis Stone Arch Bridge into the neighborhood where the restaurant is located. Ran would get down on one knee as they reached the end of the bridge, and a photographer would be in place to capture the moment. Of course, during the week leading up to the proposal Ran felt that he could not turn down anything Megan asked for. He wanted to make sure she remained in a good mood for Friday. It just so happened that Megan felt it was a good week to ask for a kitten. On the Wednesday before the proposal, Ran and Megan visited a local humane society and found Poppy, a 1.5 pound kitten. The issue was that the humane society would only allow Ran and Megan to take the kitten home on Friday, effectively ruining Ran's plans! Megan wanted to simply change their dinner reservations, but Ran knew that was not an option. He needed to navigate this situation carefully in order to change the kitten pick-up date without alerting Megan of what else was at play. After consulting with multiple humane society employees, Ran was finally able to convince them to hold Poppy for an additional 12 hours. Enough time to "pop" the question. Megan was a little skeptical about the change in plans, but she was still completely surprised as Ran got down on one knee. He asked "will you?", and she of course said "YES!"
