Matthew and Rami first connected on the language exchange app HelloTalk. What started as casual chats Matthew learning Japanese and Rami practicing English slowly grew into something truly special. When they met in person for the first time in Tokyo and spent time together, they realized their connection was more than just online. (Rami also noticed that Matthew’s Japanese, which he had learned from her, sometimes sounded a little feminine.) Even after going back to their own countries, their relationship didn’t skip a beat. When Rami visited the U.S. for the first time and spent time with Matthew’s family, their future together started to take shape. When they met again in Japan, Matthew proposed, and Rami happily said yes. From that moment on, they began taking concrete steps toward building a life together in the U.S. The time they spent together became something solid, and they decided to make Covington their home. (Rami has even gotten used to and started to enjoy strangers striking up conversations with her.) After finishing all the paperwork, Rami moved to Covington. Their long-distance days were finally over, and they could truly be together. (No more worrying about time zones or flights!) Looking back on the journey they’ve shared, they’re now stepping into a new chapter together. They can’t wait to share the years ahead with family, best friends, and loved ones, and to celebrate the life they’ve built side by side!
