Rachel and Jake met on a blind date organized by friends. Their friends insisted that they would be a great match because of their similar personalities. They were both quiet and shy on that first date until Jake broke the ice and asked "So, would you describe yourself as an awkward person?" and Rachel instantly replied, "Oh, totally!" Since then, they haven't been able to stop sharing their awkward conversations and experiences together and hope to do so for the rest of their lives.
Rachel and Jake went through many firsts together: apartment life, adopting a cat (Thatcher) and then a dog (Hazelnut), buying their first home, as well as experiencing their first pandemic. After all they had been through together, Jake knew he had found the right time to propose. He was extremely nervous because his original plan had to be altered due to quarantine. So, while watching TV at the end of a long virtual work day, he surprised her with a ring and asked her to marry him. It was probably one of the best birthday gifts Rachel had ever received. They had been through so much together already, so saying yes to her best friend was a no brainer.
